I believe our childhood is a precious time given by God in which to learn and grow, so we come to understand our sins and once we do, God wlll then start holding us accountable. And even then, there is repentance which God grants once there is acceptance of Jesus as Savior. Deuteronomy 1:39 explains this time of grace; the Israels' children did not yet know right from wrong, but God did not hold them accountable. Also, the age of accountability is highly individual . God doesn't assign an age to that accountability because God is fair.
It's not about accountability. If a child is mistreated, the anger and bitterness can keep that child in bondage for life. The anger and bitterness has to be dealt with.
Amen. Thank you for being so vulnerable raw and honest. When I came back to Jesus he wasted no time & went through every single sin with me beginning even when I was just a very small child, and still at times sharing and bringing up before me memories of where I had sinned in especially the past, from a child to teenager, to adult, with wrong thoughts, attitudes, reactions, speaking in ways that were not of a renewed mind or regenerated heart, and where I had engaged in carnal sinful fleshly behaviours and the reasons why, what was driving me, how I fell into them & showed me instead how he wanted me to have responded, and how to overcome the temptations of the flesh and to resist to the point of shedding blood (self life) as it were.
Yet he does all this out of loving kindness to help me understand the seriousness and impact of sin and to then root them out of me, roots can go deep that can affect us unless completely extricated not from just the surface level, what is obvious and can be seen on the surface, but of course the roots are often hidden aren't they? And unless rooted out can subconsciously still affect our mind and heart motivations which them become translated into actions. Deep in the undergrowth of those dark secret places that Heavenly father shines upon so His light can expose and remove and heal & so to keep transforming us into a correct renewed mind of His mind and heart & into the daughters He needs us to be recreated after His Son's image and likeness. After all we are but the pliable clay vessels being moulded and shaped through and by His loving hands into a vessel of His honour. And our clay vessels of the outward person are to be broken, from all pride. So He can pour his spirit and the character nature of the indwelling of Christ Jesus into us and all those broken healed restored parts can then shine Jesus gloriously forth as gold so radiantly.
Of course there are still areas He is working upon me and healing within me. And this process of refining us doesn't stop until we breath our last upon this realm and dimension. Yet He does it not with a battering ram, or rage, but with kindness, love understanding, patience & gentleness. What a truly caring wonderful beautiful amazing heavenly father we come under & serve!
And it's also so beautiful to take personal responsibility of each of my own sins and where I have fallen short instead of looking at those who have perpetrated such profound vile sins of evil against me, and to come to a place of forgiveness and so in that way we can be free from allowing such acts or people to maintain a stranglehold & stronghold in any ways over us. Like developing roots of bitterness, anger revenge, etc. this does not mean if someone has perpetrated criminal violent acts of harm and abuse against us that we can't then report it the police because we should for the safety of others, and the governing authorities are established to be a terror to such evil works.
And yet in all those places Jesus wants to set us free and heals us from our deep woundings and roots out of us as well as delivers us from bitterness, anger, hurt, self-righteousness, self pity, feeling sorry for self, victimhood, being bowed down with any sort of self blame, self hatred, and through Jesus' blood cleanses and purifies us to be renewed restored functioning members of his body and for His kingdom and to then help others too.
And of course heavenly father forgives those sins we did as a child done in complete ignorance of not fully grasping at two, three, four, five, etc, until actually we receive holy spirit rebirth and receive by and through God's grace illumination revealation and He gives and reveals to us the correct understanding upon all these matters and what they all meant.
I honestly don't think we fully grasp the impact of such matters in all their profound fullness until we undergo spiritual rebirth & of transformation, the process of sanctification and purification and Jesus exposing showing and revealing all these matters to us in the light of all his truths through his love mercy grace peace and forgiveness. As you said so we can deepen our relationship and walk without hinderances holding us back in any way.
Totally understand. I had some deep seated anger towards my parents because of a number of “sins against me” as a child and young adult, but I had to essentially bring it to the foot of the cross and forgive, especially for some of my anger and other sinful behaviors that dated back to when I was only 7 or 8 years old.

Well of course it does, i wasn't disagreeing with that. I was just trying to bring you a bit of comfort

I'm so glad you understand. Some just don't get it. But I think it has to be revealed by God himself. And that takes walking with him intimately.
